Power Systems Virtualization Workshop.
Session Abstract:
In this workshop we will cover the items you'll need and go through the process of converting your current single partition Power System server into a virtualized one.
Hardware Management Console (HMC) what it does, basic setup, user management, backup, HMC Updates.
Selecting your hosting environment. We'll compare VIOS and IBM i as the host partition and give pointers as to which is the best for you, and WHY!
We'll discuss many of the hardware options needed for virtulization and configuration rules and migration to a hosted environment.
Then we will build a guest partition showing all the needed components and we'll fire it up.
The session is based on IBM i 7.1 and 7.2 on POWER7 and POWER8 servers.
