TCP/IP On IBM i Workshop.
Session Abstract:
In today's world nearly everything communicates over TCP/IP. In this all day workshop:
We'll begin by covering the basics of IP addressing and routing and configuring IBM i to communicate over TCP/IP. During this time we'll have a discussion of Ethernet as well Then we'll move on to:
Configure redundant and load balanced interfaces to make TCP/IP as reliable as LACP abd Etherchannel load balancing for IBM i.
Cover each of the TCP/IP Services and Clients provided with IBM i and discuss how to configure each them and how to use them.
Discuss security and performance implications and investigate IP filters.
Create and assign digital certificates to servers.
Review and discuss the various options for IP Based printing.
Cover some best practices for naming, Host table entries and DNS.
The session is based on IBM i 7.4 and 7.5. The majority of this content is also applicable to previouos V7 releases as well as IBM i 6.1.
|
Learning Objectives:
Configure your system to communicate with TCP/IP including creating LAN connections, IP addresses, routes, host table and DNS entries.
Configure and use the TCP/IP servers provided with IBM i to make your data and other system resources available to clients outside IBM i.
Configure and use the TCP/IP Clients provided with IBM i to access resources and data on other servers including Windows, *NIX, and other IBM i servers.
Configure IP Based printers
While we will not focus on IPV6 we will cover assignment of IPV6 addresses and IPV6 addressing concepts.
